Non-Syllabus Ballet

3. Non Syllabus Ballet 2

Ballet is the foundation for all dance techniques, improving posture, core stability, co-ordination and flexibility, as well as developing musicality and artistry. It requires discipline and perseverance which are all valuable lifelong skills.

Tiny Tots Ballet (from 2 & 1/2 years)

Basic ballet technique is taught in this fun, half hour class which introduces your child to the world of movement and music. Their confidence will develop, their imagination will be stimulated and their basic skills, such as co-ordination, will improve.

Each week, the children in our Tiny Tots Ballet classes dance out a different story from the enchanting rhyming Bella Butterfly picture books, enabling them to express themselves in a fun and stimulating manner.

There is a uniform, but at first all you need are comfortable stretchy clothes. Both boys and girls are most welcome so come along and have a great time. You can always bring a friend too!

Non Syllabus Ballet Classes for older children are held weekly to develop technique, music and performance skills.

Modern Theatre

4. Modern Theatre2

ISTD-logoModern Theatre dance is a rhythmic dance style which originated in America before travelling to the rest of the world. It is often seen on the stages of musical productions and is known for its theatrical qualities. The style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps and turns which all need strength and flexibility.

The ISTD Modern Theatre Syllabus is a highly energetic dance style which gives dancers a strong foundation from which they can adapt to a variety of styles, as any new dance trend emerges. We hold classes in Modern Theatre from Primary to Intermediate.

Tap Dance

5. Tap Dance

This has evolved as an American dance form, popularised throughout the world, with debate about its origins coming from African dance, Irish dance and/or clog dancing. The dancer uses their feet to strike the floor, beating out different rhythms, with dancers wearing tap shoes which have small metal plates on the toe and heel to give the distinctive sound. Tap dance is a theatrical art form often seen on stage in musicals.

The new ISTD Tap Grades go more in the direction of rhythm tap and they have a more modern and relaxed style about them. So come and learn the Shim Sham and discover how to Paradiddle by attending one of the ISTD tap classes that we offer, from Primary level to Advanced 2.

Mini Tappers is a fun class which is an introduction to the rhythms and basic actions in tap for children from 2 ½ years old. We have tap shoes that you can borrow at first, so come along and make some noise! Why not bring a friend with you.
